Greenwich Village, Manhattan
The Crane Residence is an excellent example of the style of work that MeldNYC produces. The design unifies modern materials and the existing structure of the space. In order to achieve this, the ceiling beams and the brick walls were exposed and combined with reclaimed wood to maintain the traditional feel of a Manhattan loft, while maple cabinetry, lacquer cabinetry and corian countertops were used to create a contemporary feel. Storage and utility space were both an issue in this apartment. The resolution was to incorporate drawers into the staircase as well as a built-in refrigerator, washer and dryer.
